A 20-year-old Fife man is in a coma, fighting for his life in hospital after a horrific fall from the balcony of a friend’s house. Dylan Vanbeck sustained awful injuries including multiple skull fractures in the early hours of Sunday morning.
We understand that Dylan fell over the low metal railing of a balcony on the first floor in Wellesley Road, Methil, around 4.25am. Paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident after he plunged around 18ft, landing on his head.
His mum Vicki Lister told the Courier: “The support from the local area and afar for my boy has been heart-warming at this very difficult time as Dylan is a popular boy and so well known.
“Staff at the hospital have been amazing doing all they can for Dylan but not being able to see Dylan on Tuesday due to Covid broke my heart. As his mum, being a room away from him but not able to see him was so sad.”
His family members have now launched an appeal on social media for witnesses to the accident.
Police are looking into the exact circumstances of the incident but it is not believed at this stage that foul play was involved.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 4.25am on Sunday, July 26, police were called to a report of a 20-year-old man fallen at an address in Wellesley Road, Methil. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital.”
