Network Rail plans to build a viewing platform at the top of the Forth Rail Bridge. The plans are expected to be completed by 2015, in time for the bridge’s 125th anniversary.
There are also plans for a visitor/education centre, shopping mall and catering facilities at ground level, with elevators taking visitors to the viewing platform at the top.
The news of this move has been met with enthusiasm from the general public so far with most of the commenters on the Fife News Online Facebook Page being optimistic about the tourism potential the plan could bring to the local communities.
